Frequently Asked Questions

We understand you may have a few questions, and we welcome you to book a free consultation. In the meantime, here are some of the questions you may be considering.

A dental implant is an artificial replacement for a tooth root, usually made from titanium. An implant is typically screwed into the jaw bone and provides the foundation for long-term support of crowns, bridges or dentures, which are attached on top of the implant.
For routine cases, from the time of implant placement to the time of placing the first tooth/teeth, treatment times can vary between six weeks and six months.
Once completed, patients can expect to eat the majority of foods as they would have with their natural dentition.
Patients are often surprised at how little discomfort they experience during and after implant procedures. Most patients will be familiar with the dental anaesthetics used for routine dentistry and will know how effective they are. Implants are placed using the same anaesthesia. After the procedure, normal over-the-counter painkillers can be used to treat any discomfort during the healing process.
Implants can potentially last as long as natural teeth with good maintenance, however there are many factors that will contribute to how long they can last (history of gum disease, smoking, oral hygiene, regular maintenance, complexity of surgery).
The cost can vary, depending on the degree and extent of treatment required. The full cost is therefore explained and confirmed in a written treatment plan from your implant dentist.
